History

The Crab Boss Crab Shack concept was birthed in June 2015 by Lenell Watson and his wife Ashleigh Watson. From their home kitchen in Bowie, Maryland they would cook up an array of different Florida style Cajun seafood dishes. They took pictures and videos of the dishes and posted them on Facebook and Instagram, advertising them for sale. What started as a means to supplement Lenell’s loss of income from being laid off, it quickly became the local talk of the town. Lenell would load up the platters him and his wife had cooked and drive around to different areas selling them. The Crab Boss became highly popular in the DMV area with its “Pull up’s” as he calls them. The pull up’s quickly went from ten to twenty people standing in parking lots waiting on his delivery to literally 200 to 300 customers waiting in line at various locations to purchase our fresh seafood dishes. The demand for the product eventually lead to the Crab Boss Crab Shack opening a restaurant in Brandywine, Maryland in August 2016 to accommodate the high product demand. Since its grand opening in August 2016 the Crab Boss Crab Shack has had thousands of patrons including many celebrities such as 50 cent, Shy Glizzy, Latoya Luckett, TyDolla$, Tracy Braxton, Ginuwine and many more. Popular Female artist and Grammy Award Winner Cardi B even follows their Instagram page and has actually reached out to the Crab Boss and asked that they bring the Florida Style seafood to NYC. The Crab Boss Crab Shack has also made a very large presence on social media. The Crab Boss Crab Shack has become an inspiration for aspiring restaurateurs and a must stop destination for many who travel through the DMV.
